Market Place Bus Shelters Painted - finally
Added at 09:38 on 21 May 2025
Selkirk & District Community Council have been lobbying for a while for the renovation and painting of the bus shelters on the Market Place, whose rusty condtion was a poor advertisement for the town.
They have now been freshly painted, so many thanks to the elected SBC Councillors for enabling that, although the upkeep is now to be passed to the Community Council. The glass needs further cleaning, however, so the Community Council has arranged that and it will be done shortly. It is good that the bus shelters will be presentable in time for the Common Riding, although the Market Place / High Street / Scotts' Place statues are a different story; they have been subject to a year-long discussion and review, which is due to be published shortly, with all 3 statues recommended for remedial work. No timetable has been established yet.
