Planning – Local Development Plan
As well as developing our own ideas and projects, we are keen to understand community views around the policies for development in and around Selkirk which are set by Scottish Borders Council. These will also help inform preparation of the forthcoming Local Place Plan.
What issues should be highest priority for Selkirk in developing future planning policy:
- Town centre renewal and development (e.g. vacant shops, under-utilised spaces)
- Diversifying current employment land for a greater mix of uses and activities (e.g. Old Mills)
- Exploring new development opportunities outside the current town (e.g. Philiphaugh)
- Delivering more housing and affordable housing
- Delivering the Bypass and exploring new development opportunities on its route
- Protecting and enhancing local greenspaces (e.g. Victoria Park)
- Protecting and enhancing historic sites and Conservation Areas
- Developing greater resilience to climate change
Are there any particular planning issues, or sites you wish to highlight which would be important considerations for local planning policy?
