Selkirk & Valleys Place Plan consultation event Victoria Halls
19 June 2025 14:00-20:00
Come to the Victoris Halls, Selkirk, on Thursday 19th June between 2 and 8pm to see the first draft of the Local Place Plan for Selkirk and the Valleys.
Starting with large public meetings in 2023 and 2024, the Place Plan has been refined from over 100 suggestions into 16 projects for the future, as consulted on with the public and High School students throughout 2024.
It follows on from the Selkirk Action Plan of 2012, which itself led to the BIDS and Selkirk Means Business teams, involving town improvements which continue today with the painting of the High Street Closes.
A Place Plan doesn't guarantee funding, but, importantly, it lays the groundwork to apply for various grants, on the understanding that the ideas are supported by the community and, just as importantly, comply with the conditions of the current Planning laws and legal requirements for the provision of grants.
So please come along at any time between 2 and 8pm, view the suggestions and discuss the possible implications with the members of the Selkirk & The Valleys team and independent consultants Ironside Farrar. The Selkirk & The Valleys team is co-chaired by a representative of the Selkirk Chamber of Trade and an SBC Councillor, while members of the team are volunteers who have attended multiple public meetings as well as presenting ideas for feedback at the Farmers' Market over the last year. They include members of the Selkirk & District Community Council, Selkirk HIll Management Group, Victoria Park Action Group, Selkirk High School, South of Scotland Destination Alliance, Ettrick & Yarrow Community Council and the Selkirk Common Riding. The intiative exists under the aegis of Selkirk Regeneration.
