Celebratory event on Bank Holiday Monday May 8th in the newly created Cross Keys space, off the Market Place in Selkirk. Timing: 02pm - 5:15 PM
The ‘Cross Keys’ space, just off Selkirk's Market Place, is the space formerly inhabited by the Cross Keys pub, which sadly had to be demolished.
This free event is planned to bring together the Selkirk community, by celebrating many of the societies, organisations and performers that make Selkirk special. Organisations with marquee stallls include: SUtainable Selkirk, The Selkirk Community Orchard, Rowlands and Go Wild Scotland.
Performers on the ‘performance space’ inlcude the Selkirk Silver Band (2pm), Riddell Fiddles (3pm), Bannerfield Buskers (around 3:30 pm) and local guitarist Lewis Heatlie (4pm).
Local DJ Ed Strang Steel will entertain attendees with a selection of favourite tunes.
At teatime, members of the Rotary Club will kindly serve senior and junior citizens with free tea and ‘Souter tarts’ – a newly created tart, baked specially by Cameron's the Bakers, of Selkirk High Street, and featuring ingredients sourced locally from within 10 miles.
The event will close at 5pm with the ceremonial lighting of the King Charles III beacon, marking the close of this Bank Holiday / Coronation weekend.
