Sir Walter Scott’s short story Wandering Willie’s Tale is a self-contained episode from his historical novel Redgauntlet, published in 1824, and was first adapted for the stage by Judy Steel and John Nichol. Set in the post-Jacobite period, with the blood of the Covenanters still fresh on the ground, this is the supernatural tale told by blind fiddler Willie Steenson to pass a journey with Dairsie Latimer, the hero of the book - a tale that has become recognised as one of the finest of all Scottish short stories.
Steenie and the various other protagonists are brought to life by John Nichol, and music from renowned fiddler Iain Fraser adds atmosphere and authenticity. It is described as "captivating, humorous... and a wee bit scary".
